A high-level meeting was held today at IIT Ropar with Hon’ble Minister Shri Harjot Singh Bains, Cabinet Minister of Technical Education & Industrial Training, Higher Education & Languages, and School Education, Government of Punjab. The meeting marked a significant step towards strengthening Punjab’s technology, skilling, and innovation ecosystem.
On this occasion, two Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) were signed – one between IIT Ropar and the Department of Technical Education & Industrial Training, Government of Punjab, and another between IIT Ropar and Government Polytechnic College, Ropar.
The MoUs were signed in the presence of Hon’ble Minister S. Harjot Singh Bains, along with Dr. Pushpendra Pal Singh, Dean CAPS, IIT Ropar; Dr. Radhika Trikha, CEO, IIT Ropar Technology and Innovation Foundation (TIF); Dr. Mukesh Kestwal, CIO, IIT Ropar TIF; Mr. Aditya Madan, CLO, IIT Ropar TIF; and Dr. Navneet Walia, Principal, Government Polytechnic College Ropar, together with members and teams from IIT Ropar TIF and the Polytechnic College.
On the occasion, the Central Tool Room, MSME, also briefed the Hon’ble Minister on their ongoing initiatives in skill development and manpower training, which are playing a vital role in strengthening the state’s broader skilling ecosystem.
The central theme of the deliberations focused on the establishment of the IIT Ropar – Northern Region Emerging Technologies Skill Hub, a first-of-its-kind initiative in Punjab aimed at equipping students and young innovators with future-ready skills in Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, Cyber-Physical Systems, Robotics, and other advanced technologies. Conceived as a bridge between academic learning and industry requirements, the Hub will house advanced laboratories, residential training centres, and incubation facilities across Punjab, thereby preparing students for the future of work.The plan includes the creation of state-of-the-art Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, and IoT laboratories, alongside expansion of CPS, IoT, and other advanced technology labs in ITIs and Polytechnic Institutes across the state. In its first phase, the initiative targets the skilling of more than 1,500 students, with a larger vision of enabling employment generation and nurturing startup ventures emerging from Punjab.
Addressing the gathering, Hon’ble Minister S. Harjot Singh Bains underscored the importance of building a vibrant innovation ecosystem within Punjab’s higher education landscape. He highlighted that such initiatives will empower students by aligning them with global curriculum, advanced skilling activities, and cutting-edge research opportunities. By connecting students to the rapidly growing fields of Artificial Intelligence and emerging technologies, the Skill Hub will not only prepare them to compete globally but will also cultivate the next generation of entrepreneurs and innovators from the state.With IIT Ropar providing technical expertise and institutions across Punjab extending operational and logistical support, the Northern Region Emerging Technologies Skill Hub is poised to play a transformative role in shaping the state’s future workforce and driving innovation-led growth. Complementing these efforts, the Central Tool Room, MSME, continues to contribute significantly through its skill development and manpower training programs, reinforcing Punjab’s commitment to building a robust and future-ready skilling ecosystem.

ਆਈਆਈਟੀ ਰੋਪੜ ਵਿਖੇ ਮਾਨਯੋਗ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਸ਼੍ਰੀ ਹਰਜੋਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਬੈਂਸ, ਤਕਨੀਕੀ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਉਦਯੋਗਿਕ ਸਿਖਲਾਈ, ਉੱਚ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਅਤੇ ਭਾਸ਼ਾਵਾਂ, ਅਤੇ ਸਕੂਲ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ, ਪੰਜਾਬ ਸਰਕਾਰ ਦੇ ਕੈਬਨਿਟ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਨਾਲ ਇੱਕ ਉੱਚ-ਪੱਧਰੀ ਮੀਟਿੰਗ ਹੋਈ। ਇਹ ਮੀਟਿੰਗ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੀ ਤਕਨਾਲੋਜੀ, ਹੁਨਰ ਅਤੇ ਨਵੀਨਤਾ ਵਾਤਾਵਰਣ ਪ੍ਰਣਾਲੀ ਨੂੰ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਤ ਕਰਨ ਵੱਲ ਇੱਕ ਮਹੱਤਵਪੂਰਨ ਕਦਮ ਹੈ।

ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ‘ਤੇ, ਸੈਂਟਰਲ ਟੂਲ ਰੂਮ, MSME ਨੇ ਮਾਨਯੋਗ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਹੁਨਰ ਵਿਕਾਸ ਅਤੇ ਮਨੁੱਖੀ ਸ਼ਕਤੀ ਸਿਖਲਾਈ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਚੱਲ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਪਹਿਲਕਦਮੀਆਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਵੀ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ, ਜੋ ਕਿ ਰਾਜ ਦੇ ਵਿਆਪਕ ਹੁਨਰ ਵਾਤਾਵਰਣ ਨੂੰ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਤ ਕਰਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਹੱਤਵਪੂਰਨ ਭੂਮਿਕਾ ਨਿਭਾ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਵਿਚਾਰ-ਵਟਾਂਦਰੇ ਦਾ ਕੇਂਦਰੀ ਵਿਸ਼ਾ ਆਈਆਈਟੀ ਰੋਪੜ – ਉੱਤਰੀ ਖੇਤਰ ਉਭਰਦੀ ਤਕਨਾਲੋਜੀ ਹੁਨਰ ਹੱਬ ਦੀ ਸਥਾਪਨਾ ‘ਤੇ ਕੇਂਦ੍ਰਿਤ ਸੀ, ਜੋ ਕਿ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਪਣੀ ਕਿਸਮ ਦੀ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਪਹਿਲ ਹੈ ਜਿਸਦਾ ਉਦੇਸ਼ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਨੌਜਵਾਨ ਨਵੀਨਤਾਕਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਰਟੀਫੀਸ਼ੀਅਲ ਇੰਟੈਲੀਜੈਂਸ, ਇੰਟਰਨੈਟ ਆਫ਼ ਥਿੰਗਜ਼, ਸਾਈਬਰ-ਫਿਜ਼ੀਕਲ ਸਿਸਟਮ, ਰੋਬੋਟਿਕਸ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਉੱਨਤ ਤਕਨਾਲੋਜੀਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਭਵਿੱਖ ਲਈ ਤਿਆਰ ਹੁਨਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਲੈਸ ਕਰਨਾ ਹੈ। ਅਕਾਦਮਿਕ ਸਿਖਲਾਈ ਅਤੇ ਉਦਯੋਗ ਦੀਆਂ ਜ਼ਰੂਰਤਾਂ ਵਿਚਕਾਰ ਇੱਕ ਪੁਲ ਵਜੋਂ ਕਲਪਨਾ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ, ਹੱਬ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਭਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਉੱਨਤ ਪ੍ਰਯੋਗਸ਼ਾਲਾਵਾਂ, ਰਿਹਾਇਸ਼ੀ ਸਿਖਲਾਈ ਕੇਂਦਰ ਅਤੇ ਇਨਕਿਊਬੇਸ਼ਨ ਸਹੂਲਤਾਂ ਰੱਖੇਗਾ, ਜਿਸ ਨਾਲ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਕੰਮ ਦੇ ਭਵਿੱਖ ਲਈ ਤਿਆਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਜਾਵੇਗਾ।ਇਸ ਯੋਜਨਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਾਜ ਭਰ ਦੇ ਆਈ.ਟੀ.ਆਈ. ਅਤੇ ਪੌਲੀਟੈਕਨਿਕ ਸੰਸਥਾਵਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸੀ.ਪੀ.ਐਸ., ਆਈ.ਓ.ਟੀ. ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਉੱਨਤ ਤਕਨਾਲੋਜੀ ਪ੍ਰਯੋਗਸ਼ਾਲਾਵਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਿਸਥਾਰ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ-ਨਾਲ ਅਤਿ-ਆਧੁਨਿਕ ਰੋਬੋਟਿਕਸ, ਆਰਟੀਫੀਸ਼ੀਅਲ ਇੰਟੈਲੀਜੈਂਸ ਅਤੇ ਆਈ.ਓ.ਟੀ. ਪ੍ਰਯੋਗਸ਼ਾਲਾਵਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਿਰਜਣਾ ਸ਼ਾਮਲ ਹੈ। ਆਪਣੇ ਪਹਿਲੇ ਪੜਾਅ ਵਿੱਚ, ਇਹ ਪਹਿਲਕਦਮੀ 1,500 ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਹੁਨਰਮੰਦ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਦਾ ਟੀਚਾ ਰੱਖਦੀ ਹੈ, ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਰੁਜ਼ਗਾਰ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨ ਅਤੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਤੋਂ ਉੱਭਰ ਰਹੇ ਸਟਾਰਟਅੱਪ ਉੱਦਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਤਸ਼ਾਹਿਤ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਇੱਕ ਵੱਡਾ ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀਕੋਣ ਹੈ।
ਇਕੱਠ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਬੋਧਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹੋਏ, ਮਾਨਯੋਗ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਸ. ਹਰਜੋਤ ਸਿੰਘ ਬੈਂਸ ਨੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਉੱਚ ਸਿੱਖਿਆ ਦ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਟੀਕੋਣ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰ ਇੱਕ ਜੀਵੰਤ ਨਵੀਨਤਾ ਈਕੋਸਿਸਟਮ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਦੀ ਮਹੱਤਤਾ ‘ਤੇ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ‘ਤੇ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਕਿ ਅਜਿਹੀਆਂ ਪਹਿਲਕਦਮੀਆਂ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਸ਼ਵਵਿਆਪੀ ਪਾਠਕ੍ਰਮ, ਉੱਨਤ ਹੁਨਰ ਗਤੀਵਿਧੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਅਤਿ-ਆਧੁਨਿਕ ਖੋਜ ਮੌਕਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਸ਼ਕਤ ਬਣਾਉਣਗੀਆਂ। ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਰਟੀਫੀਸ਼ੀਅਲ ਇੰਟੈਲੀਜੈਂਸ ਅਤੇ ਉੱਭਰ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਤਕਨਾਲੋਜੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਤੇਜ਼ੀ ਨਾਲ ਵਧ ਰਹੇ ਖੇਤਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜ ਕੇ, ਸਕਿੱਲ ਹੱਬ ਨਾ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਸ਼ਵ ਪੱਧਰ ‘ਤੇ ਮੁਕਾਬਲਾ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਤਿਆਰ ਕਰੇਗਾ ਬਲਕਿ ਰਾਜ ਦੇ ਉੱਦਮੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਨਵੀਨਤਾਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਅਗਲੀ ਪੀੜ੍ਹੀ ਨੂੰ ਵੀ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰੇਗਾ।
ਆਈਆਈਟੀ ਰੋਪੜ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਤਕਨੀਕੀ ਮੁਹਾਰਤ ਅਤੇ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਭਰ ਦੀਆਂ ਸੰਸਥਾਵਾਂ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਸੰਚਾਲਨ ਅਤੇ ਲੌਜਿਸਟਿਕ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਪ੍ਰਦਾਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ, ਉੱਤਰੀ ਖੇਤਰ ਉਭਰਦੀ ਤਕਨਾਲੋਜੀ ਹੁਨਰ ਹੱਬ ਰਾਜ ਦੇ ਭਵਿੱਖ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਜਬਲ ਨੂੰ ਆਕਾਰ ਦੇਣ ਅਤੇ ਨਵੀਨਤਾ-ਅਗਵਾਈ ਵਾਲੇ ਵਿਕਾਸ ਨੂੰ ਅੱਗੇ ਵਧਾਉਣ ਵਿੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਪਰਿਵਰਤਨਸ਼ੀਲ ਭੂਮਿਕਾ ਨਿਭਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਤਿਆਰ ਹੈ। ਇਹਨਾਂ ਯਤਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੂਰਕ ਵਜੋਂ, ਸੈਂਟਰਲ ਟੂਲ ਰੂਮ, ਐਮਐਸਐਮਈ, ਆਪਣੇ ਹੁਨਰ ਵਿਕਾਸ ਅਤੇ ਮਨੁੱਖੀ ਸ਼ਕਤੀ ਸਿਖਲਾਈ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮਾਂ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਮਹੱਤਵਪੂਰਨ ਯੋਗਦਾਨ ਪਾਉਣਾ ਜਾਰੀ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਹੈ, ਇੱਕ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਤ ਅਤੇ ਭਵਿੱਖ ਲਈ ਤਿਆਰ ਹੁਨਰ ਵਾਤਾਵਰਣ ਪ੍ਰਣਾਲੀ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੀ ਵਚਨਬੱਧਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਹੋਰ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
